Eugene A. Bonaroti, MD. has experience stretching back to 1998 in private practice and as an attending surgeon. Prior to entering his fields of practice, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Bioengineering from the University of Pennsylvania; and a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. After receiving these initial degrees, he began coursework towards a Master of Science in Neuroscience, and completed residencies and internships under Dr. Peter Jannetta at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. From 1998 until 2008, he worked as an attending at the following: - UPMC Shadyside Hospital - Western Pennsylvania Hospital - UPMC St. Margeret Hospital - UPMC PAssavant Hospital - Beaver Medical Center - Butler Memorial Hospital Then, from 2008 to 2019, he worked as: - An Attending Physician at the Allegheny General Hospital Department of Neurological Surgery - The Chief of Neurological Surgery at Forbes Regional Hospital - The Neurotrauma Director at Forbes Regional Hospital’s Level II Trauma Center In May of 2019, Dr. Bonaroti made the decision to return to independent practice. It was clear to him that this was the best environment in which he could provide care to his patients in the way he found most appropriate. While he provides the full range of spine care, and has extensive experience with complex spinal surgery, his practice will emphasize minimally invasive options when possible. His goal is to cost-effective, less invasive spinal surgery, utilizing techniques in the ambulatory setting when appropriate.
